On March 20th, Dave
Williams served on a panel entitled, “Using Store
Technology to Create Efficiency and Increase Sales” at
ExpoWest. ExpoWest
is the largest trade show and conference in the natural products
industry and caters primarily to thousands of natural foods
retailers.
Dave Williams and LoyalTec
were featured in an article in September's The Gourmet
Retailer entitled,
"Innovative Technologies: The Store of the Future is Here."

...Williams' data-mining application is a retrofit. In other
words, he is able to help retailers identify a place where they
can pinpoint customer information and modify their system at a
"minimal cost." "We have to determine if you can integrate
the POS system -- whether it can be integrated, or if you need
to put hardware in, application costs vary from $2,500 to
$8,000, depending on the size of the retailer."
Once you have the system in place, hiring a company such as
LoyalTec to monitor, mine, and warehouse the data is critical.
Depending on your needs and the types of services provided
(target mailings and promotions, etc.), the cost could range
from $150 to several thousand dollars monthly.
"Loyalty programs allow retailers to stay in front of their
customers on a regular basis so that they don't lose them,"
Williams explained. "If your system isn't returning you two to
three times or more than what you are paying them, you shouldn't
hire them. Everything is measurable. If you put a billboard up,
you wonder if you've driven traffic; with this type of data, you
can determine the percentage of customers who respond to a
particular offer because it's so targeted..."
